John Forbis and Janet Sturges abstained as they had not attended the November meeting. Motion carried.

1. Public Open Forum – no participation

2. Plaque Program update – Martha Hansen
20 Lyme Street (Masonic Hall): Although the Masons bought the lot in 1910, no information has been found to suggest that there was a building on the lot between the time the Lyme Academy burned down in 1885 and 1921/22 when the Masonic Hall was built using part of the old town hall. The “ca. 1919” date on the plaque is acceptable to the HDC.
Action: Ask Diane Mallory if she agrees (Janet Sturges).

24 Lyme Street (EF Watermelon): The 24 and 26 Lyme Street properties were one lot until 1962. The two buildings are not mentioned separately in the deeds.
Action: Contact Ned Pfeiffer to determine the approximate date of construction (John Forbis).

Action: 60 Lyme Street - Check Carolyn Wakeman’s book for information (Martha Hansen).
12 Ferry Road - Follow up with David Kelsey (Martha Hansen).

3. Business News & Secretary’s Report – Martha Hansen
The deadline for the CLG Report has changed. We are awaiting further instructions from Mary Dunne.

All of the HDC files have been scanned into the Laserfiche system. The files can be accessed via a public computer at the Town Hall.
Action: Follow up with Mary Dunne regarding CLG Report; file 2012 meeting schedule; check remote access to Laserfiche HDC files (Martha Hansen).

4. Any other new or old business
109 Lyme Street:  Spicer Gas will be installing a new propane tank. The applicant provided a site plan and assurance that the tank will not be visible from Lyme Street.
Action: Contact Ann Brown regarding the propane tank (Jim Bechtel).

The Selectmen would like to install a “Heartsafe Community” sign in the Historic District. Jim Bechtel advised Cathy Frank to submit an application so that a Public Hearing can be held at the January meeting.
Action: Submit CofA application (Cathy Frank).

Joanne DiCamillo proposed the name Chandler Lane instead of College Street for the new access road across from LACFA. The HDC agreed.
Action: Speak to Fritz Jellinghouse regarding the name of the new street (John Forbis).

5. 1 Lyme Street: rebuild chimneys – Phil Trowbridge
Two chimneys need to be replaced. The chimneys are made of custom-cut brick. Replacing like for like will be extremely expensive. Phil Trowbridge will provide a scaled drawing for the public hearing in January and will speak to the applicant about completing an application for a CofA.
Action: Advertise public hearing and notify neighbors (Martha Hansen). Submit CofA (Marty Ames). Provide specs for new chimneys (Phil Trowbridge).

6. Adjournment
John Forbis made a motion, seconded by Janet Sturges, to adjourn the meeting at 10:15a.m. All present voted in favor. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Martha Hansen
